It's Spelling Bee Time for all of our Moore Students!  Parents, please help your child study the words they have been given.  We want all students to get the benefit of this wonderful program. Mrs. Costilla, the librarian  and Ms. Emily Boudreau, 3rd grade teacher are the sponsors of the Spelling Bee this year. Students chosen for the final spelling bee may utilize Spelling City to study words.  See your teacher for more information about this. Be sure to be present for practice times which are Monday and Thursdays 3:00 - 4:15 p.m.  Contact your child's teacher or one of the sponsors for any questions you might have.  Good Luck Spelling Bee participants!

Blue Ribbon Award

Blanche Moore Elementary has been named one of the 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the United States Department of Education. This is a prestigious honor and we are very proud of this distinction. Thanks to our great principal, Mrs. Janie Vela, for all the hard work, dedication and great leadership she has provided for all of our students and teachers. We would also like to thank our dedicated teachers and our outstanding learners, the students, for the wonderful job they have done.

The U.S. Department of Education named 304 schools as 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement gaps. The Department will honor the entire 255 public and 49 private schools with their National Blue Ribbon awards at a conference and awards ceremony November 14-15, 2011 in Washington, D.C.

District Policy Regarding Daily Attendance and Partial Day Absences:

A student present at the time of daily attendance, but who is absent from
school for part of a day (for example: tardy in the morning, or picked up early
in the afternoon) for more than 15 minutes is considered missing part of a
school day and will be counted as a partial day absence.
