Student Dress Code 2026-2027

At Blanche Moore Elementary school, grooming and appearance are an essential part of the positive, and safe school climate. The dress code teaches grooming and hygiene, prevents disruption, and minimizes safety hazards.  Occasionally, dress up/theme days may allow certain clothing items to be worn. 

  1. SHORTS, SKIRTS, DRESSES, OR JUMPERS: Length -  No shorter than 2 ½ above the knee (width of a dollar bill) for 3rd-5th; No shorter than 3 inches above the knee for PK-2nd. Shorts must be worn under dresses/jumpers.

  2. LEGGINGS: Underneath shorts, skirts, dresses, or jumpers, only - NOT as pants. 

  3. SHIRTS, T-SHIRTS, BLOUSES, AND POLO SHIRTS: Any shirt appropriate for school, short or long sleeves (no sleeveless). May not have pictures or writing that is offensive, vulgar, obscene, gang-related or depict drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or weapons. Must cover the midriff (stomach) and may not reveal undergarments. No oversized or tight shirts. 

  4. PANTS AND JEANS: Must fit appropriately. No rips or tears. Oversized or tight pants are not allowed such as spandex, yoga pants, leggings as bottoms. 

  5. FOOTWEAR: Closed toed shoes. Tennis shoes are preferred for PE and safety. Crocs, house shoes, slippers, sandals, heels, or shoes with wheels are not allowed. 

  6. HAIR/HEADWEAR: Must be neat, clean, and groomed (No distracting styles or unnatural colors). Hats, caps, or beanies are not allowed indoors.

  7. JEWELRY: May be worn as long as it does not pose a safety hazard. Studs or small style earrings are acceptable. Not allowed: facial piercing; excessive jewelry. 

  8. SWEATERS, JACKETS/HOODIES: Acceptable unless they are covering clothing that is against the dress code.  Hoods may not be worn in the building. 

  9. BACKPACKS: Clear, plastic backpacks ONLY. 

  10. INAPPROPRIATE CLOTHING: Pajama tops/bottoms are not permitted unless allowed by the campus administrator on specified days as an incentive. 

  11. MAKEUP/NAILS: Makeup, tattoos (real or play), and fake nails are not allowed.

 Non Compliance is a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. 

1st Incident - Warning and Parent Contact;  2nd Incident - Parent Contact and Change of Clothing ;   3rd Incident: Office Referral, Parent Contact, and Change of Clothing. Repeated offenses may result in more serious consequences. 

The Dress Code was adopted and approved by the Moore Campus Advisory Team on May 18, 2026. Final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the principal or designee.
